Steve Clarke is the current Systems & Operations Director at AOL Broadband, Top 6 UK ISP with 2.4+million UK customers, part of the FTSE100 Carphone Warehouse Group.
Steve joined AOL Time-Warner UK from the Wellcome Trust in 2004 where he became Head of Internal Computing at AOL UK. In this role, he was responsible for leading the corporate technology function supporting thousands of users located throughout the UK and Ireland. He has held various technical and management positions in support, programme management, and information technology service delivery.
Steve’s operational responsibility is to keep AOL Broadband systems running and growing by delivering such critical information capabilities as business applications, productivity solutions, voice and data networking, data centre operations, and custom information solutions.
As Systems & Operations Director at AOL Broadband his most recent major achievement has been innovating and driving the new service delivery programme resulting from one of the worlds largest ISP transition programs (AOL-Time Warner, CPW, AOL Broadband UK – a £354 Million investment).
David Dinsdale

David Dinsdale is the Programme Director at businesslink.gov.uk. Prior to this, David was Founder and Finance IT/Finance Director of ANAQUA. In just three years this company progressed from a five person start-up to its current focus as a leading global service provider in the intellectual property (IT) industry. As part of developing ANAQUA, David spent a year in Richmond with Microsoft, helping them implement a new value based approach to IP management and exploitation.
He is expert in helping clients re-structure their businesses for advantage using web based technologies and has spent 17 of the last 20 years as owner / proprietor of the technology businesses that he has helped build. In his career, David has worked with a wide range of corporate (Kimberly Clarke, Coca cola, Ford, BAT, IBM, AMEX) and Government Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Health and Mexican Government? Marc Dowd
MD, CIO Group, Forrester
Biography
Marc is a principal for the CIO Group in EMEA, part of the Forrester Leadership Boards™. He works with members to understand their key issues and proactively offer valuable, action-oriented advice specific to each member’s needs. Marc also works to enable CIOs to contact each other and share experience where applicable. Marc’s research focuses on the human challenges facing key stakeholders when working with IT.
Marc has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry. Before joining Forrester Leadership Boards, Marc worked with a wide variety of IT vendors, including ERP software, software development tools, and implementation and services vendors. He worked with high-level customer executives to maximize the benefits from their use of technology. Marc gained extensive experience in facilitating groups to achieve decisions on technology-related issues.
Marc is no stranger to the issues surrounding multicultural technology implementations; over the past 15 years, he has focused on the international aspects of large multinational IT implementations. He has worked in most European countries and speaks fluent Spanish and French. Marc holds an M.Sc. in Ergonomics from Loughborough University and a BA in Psychology from the University of West London.
Bhaskar Dasgupta

Bhaskar is currently the Global Head of the Programme Management Office for Global Finance. He is assisting in the establishment of a global finance function, a people transformation programme, setup of new Offshoring centers, new ERM systems implementation and new control and process improvement programmes via some very innovative funding and service delivery mechanisms.
Prior to this, he was the Head of Strategy and Change, Global Infrastructure & IT Operations (€2.0 billion footprint of IT assets) for ABN AMRO and helped deliver the largest and most complex financial industry merger integration process from the technology infrastructure functional perspective. Joining ABN Amro in 2003, he headed up Strategy, Architecture and Change Management for ABN AMRO Europe’s IT Division and has lead the global Investment Bank’s Basel II programme; Strategic Risk Architecture programme, Professional Fees Cost reduction programme etc.
Prior to ABN Amro, he worked at Salomon Smith Barney; Goldman Sachs; Barclays Capital and other several international banks in a variety of trading and risk management roles as well as for PriceWaterhouseCoopers and SunGard. He is completing his second doctorate in Politics, Terrorism and Financial Markets from Kings College, London; his first was in financial mathematics and computational finance from Manchester Business School, Manchester. Besides holding an MBA in Finance and IT and BSc in Mathematics, he is also a visiting professor at several universities.

Myron, a MBA from Birmingham University has delivered major I.T. strategic programmes and mission critical services. He has re-organised corporate I.T. units and deployed high performance I.T. practices for international businesses operating within a number of different sectors. With over twenty years of experience he has seen the role that I.T plays in commercial organisations move from the back office to being a major factor in delivering client facing competitive advantage.
Leading logistics service providers like NYK face increasing demands form their clients to further lean, speed up and increase visibility of products in the supply chain. Processes and technology are interwoven to produce competitive services and in today’s logistics business service providers need to integrate system internally and externally with clients and other companies in the supply chain.

John Jackson

John is Assistant Director (ICT) London Borough of Camden. Since his promotion in 2005 John has focused on business enabled transformation and creating a high performance ICT organisation. To date he has released over £10 M in cashable savings for front line services. The Audit Commission recognised ICT as being effective in Camden’s recent Inspection which ranked the Council as amongst the best performing nationwide.
John has held a variety of positions in local, regional and national government having led teams that were twice winners of the IT Excellence Award and a finalist on a third occasion. In 2003 John was seconded to the Children’s Unit to work on the development of multi agency IT systems following the inquiry into the death of Victoria Climbie. In this role John contributed to the Green Paper and helped to pioneer the design of information sharing systems that are being rolled out today as part of the national programme.
Mark Lowther

Biography
Mark Lowther is currently the ICT Director for the Forensic Science Service. The Forensic Science Service (FSS) is the largest one-stop provider for all forensic services, serving police forces across England and Wales as well as national law enforcement agencies. The FSS deals with approximately 130,000 cases per year, covering almost 55 different type of criminal offences and process on average 400,000 DNA samples every year. Their ICT Strategy has 3 key elements namely, collaboration, interoperability and providing a 10% efficiency saving. Mark has been associated with IT for the last 20 years, after graduating from University of London (Chemistry), he initially worked as a Forensic Scientist for the Metropolitan Police Service.
John Middleditch

Biography
John Middleditch began his career working in a wide range of IT project, internal consulting and management roles with IBM, Prudential and National Grid. After joining East Midlands Electricity as Head of Data Management in 1998, and further management roles, he became Head of IT Strategy for the Powergen Energy Trading business in 2002. A period heading up IT strategy for E.ON UK from 2004 led to appointment to his current role as Chief Technology Officer for E.ON UK in 2006. John holds a degree in Computer Science and an MBA.
Adam Oliver
Head Of Corporate Social Responsibility + A&D Research, BT
Biography
Adam lead’s BT’s research into new technologies to help our disabled and elderly customers, along with research into the three strands of BT’s CSR strategy; tackling climate change, sustainable ecolomic growth and creating a more inclusive society. Adam has a keen interest in the inclusive design of our products and is at the forefront of BT’s drive for accessible products for all our customers. Working with his colleagues across BT and external organisations, Adam also aims to convert BT’s innovation into inspiration.
For example, after meeting some visually impaired teenagers who were excluded from the world of text messaging Adam lead research to develop handheld text message readers and proved the concept of SMS reading. This lead to the creation of BT Text where anyone can have a text message sent to their home number.
BT has a long-standing commitment to social inclusion and also products to help the disabled. For example, BT’s BT Retail Age and Disability team recently celebrated 21 years of existence and many developments in telephony have their roots in special needs. CSR has a wide remit and can cover from bridging the digital divide, through to reduction in power consumption.
The ecological effect of energy and commodity consumption will become ever more important over the coming years and being able to articulate our saving to the planet through improved ways of working or reduced power consumption of our services will be of benefit. Some innovation will come out of specific research directed by the CSR + A&D programme and some will be from other programmes that happen to create innovation that can be of benefit. Adam is always keen to meet interesting people who are interested in this work and who are keen to help.
Adam, 40 has worked for BT for 18 years and is based in BT Centre, but often can be found in Starbucks in Paternoster Square sharing his vision for Inclusive Innovation.
Phil Pavitt
CIO, Transport for London
Biography
Phil Pavitt is Group CIO for Transport for London (TfL), the functional body responsible for the implementation of the Mayor of London’s Transport Strategy and the management of transport services across the Capital including London`s buses. As such Phil is ultimately responsible for the technology behind London’s buses, the Underground, the Docklands Light Railway and the London River Services. As well as that supporting Victoria Coach Station, the London Transport Museum, London`s 4,600 traffic lights and the central London Congestion Charging scheme.
Phil’s previous roles include division-wide Transformation Director at the Centrica Group, CIO of OneTel and Global CIO at the ntl Group.
Phil’s core strengths lie in transforming IT functions, in his own words: ‘If someone tells me a team can’t be changed for the better, I’m the first to rise to the challenge and prove it can be done. Whilst transformation is about vision and strategy, I believe the key to effective change is people - and my passion is to engage, motivate and lead the team so together we develop a culture of success and deliver transformation.”

Peter Pedersen

Biography
Dane Peter Pedersen is something of an internet entrepreneur and visionary and in the 1990s was a key player in building up a digital agency that delivered web technologies for some major UK brands. Pedersen went on to work for TV station Channel 4 where he led the successful delivery of the channel's interactive offering online and on TV, and he managed the technical build of the scalable infrastructure and websites for Big Brother, E4, FilmFour and channel4.com.
As CTO of online gaming firm Blue Square, Pedersen was instrumental in facilitating information sharing between rival companies during the denial of service blackmail attacks targeting the UK industry in 2004. He also built the scalable on and off-shore infrastructure for international expansion and gaming and betting websites for Mecca Bingo, Grosvenor Casinos and 888Sports. Later Pedersen was promoted from his role at Blue Square to CTO of its parent, The Rank Group Plc, where he was tasked with putting IT at the heart of some major and rapid change at the organisation.
Earlier this year Pedersen joined the dynamic new leadership team at online lingerie retailer Figleaves.com, where he is charged with scaling the technologies in preparation for growth.
Jeremy Ruston,

Jeremy is the founder of Osmosoft and creator of TiddlyWiki, a hugely popular open source wiki. He has recently joined BT to lead its open source innovation activities where he will build a team to develope creative open source opportunities. He has been a CTO for two dotcoms - Interactive1 and on board info - where he took a leading role in evolving their technology strategies and developing new applications and services.
Previously, Jeremy was joint Global Head of E-Commerce at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson where he was responsible for e-commerce systems and development across all business areas of the bank. He is well known in the open source community and combines his deep technical knowledge with a flair for building strong business relationships.

Philip Turner

Philip Turner is the Regional Director for UK and Ireland at Data Domain with over 15 years experience in the storage market. Prior to Data Domain Philip served as EMEA Director for Acopia Networks. Philip was also one of the first European employees at NetApp, where he served as District Manager for the Public Sector & Enterprise Accounts playing a key role in driving the company’s growth into a storage space dominated by EMC to claim the #1 position as NAS storage vendor. Philip has also held positions at IronPort Systems and Computer Associates.
Simon Walkden
Head of Production Architecture in the Global Technology function Barclays Capital
Biography
Simon Walkden is Head of Production Architecture in the Global Technology function at Barclays Capital. He proposed and developed a business case at the company for a virtual desktop infrastructure with low power thin client technology at the end of 2006. Thin clients and virtual desktops had rolled out to over a thousand internal users within a year. Subsequently, Simon took over responsibility for BarCap’s strategy for environmental improvement across both technology and buildings. His background in technology means he is particularly interested in the challenge of putting meaning to the subject of Green IT.
Previously to working for Barclays Capital, Simon worked for 10 years at UBS Investment Bank, eventually as Head of Architecture in Information Technology. His career has spanned public sector, private sector and government, working in IT, since graduating from University of Cambridge in 1980. At Cambridge, he read Economics and worked on community recycling projects, leaving him with the dilemma of whether he is an Economist or an Environmentalist.
Malcolm Whitehouse

In May 2008 Malcolm took on his current role of Group Applications Director for Corporate IT within the Department of Work and Pensions, following a successful two years as Information Systems Director for Jobcentre Plus, a role he had carried out since May 2006 following a period as Chief Technology Officer.
Prior to this he was Head of IT Strategy responsible for defining long term technology direction for DWP – having joined the Department in June 2003.
Before joining the Civil Service Malcolm was at Royal & Sun Alliance plc where most recently he was e-Business Programme Director across their UK Businesses having spent his previous years in R&SA as Chief Technology Officer for their Life and Pensions Business. During his time in financial services Malcolm was a member of the ABI IT committee – representing the interests of Composite Insurance companies. His previous roles also included a year in Japan establishing a start up Life Insurance Company.
With over 25 years experience in IT – starting his career with Whitbread plc and then British Olivetti, Malcolm has experience spanning all elements of technology development and implementation. Malcolm has an MBA and is also a member of BCS Elite and the Chartered Management Institute.
